Building injectors

what is everyones thoughts on someone building there own injectors?? someone thats isn't a professional. just a normal person. i guess he take regualar injectors and builds them himself to what he says are 170cc.

Well if you want to try it go for it! There are special tools needed that aren't cheap. I've seen some make their own make shift tools but you have to have some way to put a torque wrench on them and torque them. Then you need to make sure you actually assemble them correctly. There is a procedure for assembleing the top end and if you don't do it right and have everything lined up right the injector won't work. Useing your engine as a test bench to see if they work is kind of a PITA if you have one not fireing too.

someone i know says his injectors give about 500hp i know he is full of s@@t, but i just wanted to see if its possible i know of to set he did, but they don't seem that much more powerful.

If you're asking if 500hp is possible out of powerstroke injectors: Absolutely.

And just as Geoff said, you can do it yourself. I've disassembled and reasembled a few now that weren't torqued down. But if I had the tools, I could definately take them apart and reassemble them. But finding out how much to take off of the intensifier bottom, or things like that are the little things that make it not so worthwhile to be pulling sets of injectors in and out of your truck once you start stroking them and other internal modifications.
