I would like to add a clock to my truck. I am looking for ideas/suggestions on some kind of hardwire clock set up so it will be visable day and night. I have seen a few overhead consoles installed that had digital clocks, but my searches are coming up empty. I am guessing that the factory radio must have had a built in clock, but when I purchased my truck it had an aftermarket player with no clock.
I know I can purchase a battery operated clock and velcro it to the dash, but I cannot see it at night. Yes, I could look at my watch, but alas I have kids. They want to know what time it is and how long will it be until we get there? So installing a clock that is clearly visable both day and night seems like an intriguing idea.

What I would suggest is putting a new deck in that has a clock plus you get a new deck.

could buy a pimp autometer clock, just kidding. i'd go with a new deck. you can get a cd player w/ nothing fancy for like 75 bucks at best buy... even less if you are patient enough to wait for an open box one.
My truck already has a nice deck. Plays CD's adjusts all kinds of things and the face plate easily removes if I want the space to look blank so it is not a theft target. Just no clock feature.

well a stand alone clock that would have a backlight... autometer gauge style runs $60+ & you still need a mounting solution (cup, pod, etc). seems pricey just for a clock... however i do understand what you are trying to accomplish.
I have seen some small used digital clocks out of Honda vehicles for less than $10 on a popular auction site that would be easy enough to power up and install somewhere.
I was looking for additional ideas. Some one on this site had a small headliner console installed that had temperature and a clock. It was much smaller than a whole headliner console and was installed above the rear view mirror right at the top of the windshield.

Are you sure there is no clock in the radio? Did you look in the radio owners manual? Did it even come w one? Maybe go online to see its features. Some of these new radios suck as far as working them.(too complex gps, video, ipod,hd,bluetooth, usb, satellite) What happened to a radio that played music, tape or cd and told time? If you still want to put a seperate clock in i have seen expedition/excursion overhead consoles modded into a OBS. Or maybe go real old skool and put a factory F series digital clock in out of a 80-86. I know mine works

Bingo, that is the ticket. Easy hook up, and if you tap into a dimmer line it will dimm with your dash lights.
the 80s fords had a digital clock in them you could easly make work?
