Re: Clutch in to start - Switch delete??

If that is the case I spliced the wrong ones initially. All I should have to do is twist them together correct?

Please don't rig it like that, atleast splice it with a connector.

If you aren't gonna use the switch, bust it apart and see what the contacts connect when the switch is activated. Full proof way to find what wires to connect.

Re: Clutch in to start - Switch delete??

I think the problem is there is 2 identical switches on the bracket for clutch pedal position, one for cruise and one for the start circuit.

I think he spliced the one for cruise.

the start circuit is red/blue, the cruise is white/purple.

I just bypassed the switch. One of the replies in another post says it's the two white wires, another says it's the blue wires. I tried both, and it was the blue wires for me. I've got a 96 F250 diesel 2wd 5sp stick. I just pulled the plug, cut the wires before the plug, and put them together with a wire nut.

Hey guys, can anyone tell me where the clutch pedal bypass switch is supposed to be? I just did the auto to manual swap and my truck starts in gear, and for me thats cool, but my wife drives it too and I have a bad feeling that she is going to put my truck though my living room one day... Is the switch already in my truck from the E4OD or do I have to go get a switch? Where do I hook it to? Thanks....

There isn't a bypass switch...this old thread was talking about adding one.

The factory clutch switch (mounted on the clutch master cylinder pushrod) has two functions. One set of normally open contacts enables the starter motor circuit, so the engine won't start unless the clutch is pushed in. The other set of normally closed contacts drops out the cruise control when the clutch is pressed.

I added a bypass switch to the circuit that controls the starter motor. Flipped one way, the switch lets the clutch safety switch fundtion normally: you've got to press the clutch to start the engine. Flip to the other side, the starter will crank without the clutch being pressed. (In the middle position, the engine won't crank period)

You may already have the wiring under the dash. If memory is right, there's two blue/red wires and two white/purple wires. Connector is something like a 7 pin plug, all the pins in a row. The connector may have jumpers in it from the factory if it was an automatic transmission.
