Thanks for the info BlindViper.

One of these days I am going to have to get smarter on the E4OD and its common problems because my meter is running and I don't intend to sell my truck. I know I'll have to have it rebuilt and I don't feel comfortable doing it myself. But I want to be knowledgeable enough to ask the right questions of whoever I choose to do it.

The real key here with our trucks is to build the transmission. My trans had 3 "rebuilds" before I did the build and there was still factory wear parts in it.

Yes...I think a lot of re-builders put a band-aide in it and call it good. That's not really what I will be after. I want all the worn and weak parts replaced. I just need to learn what they are

You got that right I suspect they fix the transmission and not rebuild them...not sure about that so take that as a uneducated guess and not fact. I would hope they upgraded and replaced all the worn parts but not sure. Just my 2 cents.

I think the ford trans are labeled as re manufactured. That should mean at least the wear parts are replaced.

If that was the case then what is wrong with getting a Ford re-manufactured transmission and adding a better torque converter?

The factory design is barely up to snuff on a stock truck let alone a modded one.
