Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

Ever since I replaced my water pump, I've been thinking I should install a good Coolant Filtration system, but don't know which one to get. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

I think they use all the same or very similar parts. My advice would be to find the cheapest one since they are all basically the same.

Re: Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

I don't remember witch one that I went with but they are a sponser on the site here. I don't think that you can go wrong with any of them, just as long as you get one on the truck. On mine I had to build a bracket that fit onto the alternator to mount the filter to. I think that Dale I has one with that bracket already. Right now I am using the Baldwin precharged filters for my sca's. <ul type="square"> Jim
Re: Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

Here's one from Bob Riley at Dieselsite.com http://www.dieselsitetoo.com/index.a...D&amp;ProdID=8 .

Bob is a sponsor here. I have had business dealings with him several times in the past, and would recommend Bob and his business to anyone.

(you may want to think about installing a coolant 'T' in your system as well)

Go with Dale Isley - Tymar Performance. He is the best, hands down.

Thats also the way I did mine, just used a longer piece of angle and put coolant and atf filters side by side.

Mine (in my pics) is the Carpentractor (Keith Anderson) version, but slightly modified (different fittings for less joints and lower profile). Cheers!

Re: Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

Pat, where did you get your fittings? Talking to Dale I. his kit mounts to the alternator also. I haven't received it yet, but like the looks of your 'Home Made' system...good job.

Re: Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

I got them at a hydraulic supply place (not as cheap as a hardware store, though). I didn't like all the joints with the female hose barbs and nipples with Carpentractor's setup. The hose barbs are also the short "single" barb style. I also cut off the top mounting ear on the base and put a groove in it for the hose and clamp to clear. Cheers!

Re: Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

Hey All,

In case you are considering a future I/C installation and thus want to leave that space beside that alternator clear for the cold side I/C tube, here is a link to my old post about fabbing a bracket to mount the filter between the jack and the fender.

No new ideas in my post other than location.

Here 'tis: Remote coolant filter install
These were the first pics I posted in my gallery so it makes more sense if you start at the end of the pics and work backwards!

God Bless,

TC

Re: Coolant Filtration System...which one to buy?

I received my Tymar coolant kit last night from Dale I and I am pretty impressed with it. It comes with everything you need to mount it to the alternator. Since I don't have an intercooler or plan to install one...this will work just fine for me. Thanks Dale Isley.
