I am looking for an E rated set of 265/75R/16's for winter. I dont want anything tooo aggresive just an all season. At tire factory they have Cooper Disco. ATR's for $166 a tire. That didnt sound too out of line, they are about the exact tire im looking for, I still have to hit Shwab before I make my desicion, anyone have any experience w/ these Coopers? Thanks.

With the weight of the PS your not going to get 50K out of a set of coopers. Best I ever did out west on my coopers was 30K, but they were the STT's.

I ran a set of Cooper DISCOVERER LT size 255/85X16 (no longer available) for just over 70,000 miles on my two wheel drive 95 and currently have a set of 285/75 x 16 Cooper DISCOVERER ATR load range D (3305 lbs per tire) on mine and really like them. I have under 10,000 miles on these. They are much quieter and have a significantly better ride than the LT's did.
I have run coopers on several cars and a couple trucks and am more than satisfied with them.

I run Pro Comp A/T's... great tire and they ride great. tires have over 20K on them and they still look perfect. I drive it in the snow at home here and the tires really hook up under all conditions I have here. I will be getting another set when these are done. And they have a 50K warranty. I got them at 4 Wheel Parts.
LOOK HERE for them... I have the size you want and they are E rated.

Does Shwab carry Yokohama or who does?

Thats not a bad sounding deal on those tires, I did notice that under the 235's, and 245's it says E rating but under the 265's said nothing but you said they are E rated so yeah....
Another thing to ponder on, is syping (sp?) worth the extra $?
i think summit usta carry yokohama otherwise i get mine from a local guy up here (tire associates)
syping- in my experience thats a bad idea until the tires r down past half tread or they really get chewed up fast

I'm running the Goodyear Silent Armor's on mine, quiet, good ride and in snow so for they been great. 50,000 mile warr. but the cost was a little steep 188 each for E's.

I used to run Cooper Discoverers 235/85s but didn't get the wear out of them I wanted ~30K (I do change tires early though owing to the amount of winter driving I do). Right now I'm running some General Grabber AT^2s (235/85 again) and am super happy with them, ~20K so far and they look near new. Good traction in the snow/ice and okay off-road as well. IIRC paid 160/tire installed.

Been running Coopers on both PSD's for years. The 01 got a set of ATR's a while back.
You keep them rotated, keep the air right and take it easy from a stop and they'll give you 60-65k. That is with the older AT's.
I like the ATR's and will get a set for the '96 next spring.

Yea I am heading in Friday to get a set of 265's on it, for $166 a tire...
I just got a set of Discoverer S/T's for my truck, they were around $170 per tire but that is 10 ply, if you don't haul much you might be able to get away with a less beefy tire. I haul 10-15k lb stock trailer and if you have ever driven over Ryegrass (the pass between Ellensburg and Vantage) you know you don't want to blow a tire with a trailer on that SOB. They are a fairly aggressive tire but I haven't noticed too much road noise (of course we are talking a PSD) but the traction in mud is awesome!
I have had the A/T and LT also and I was really happy with both of those tires. about 50k-60K per set with rotation.
Coopers aren't the cheapest but the quality is outstanding. And when I compared them to Les Schwab they were actually cheaper! And the quality of the Schwab tires isn't as good (and this coming from a guy who used to work at Schwabs)
