darn oil leaking pedestal!

i thought i had fixed the oil leak when i had the motor out but it is still leaking. i replaced the 2 o-rings between the pedestal and the block and the 2 between the pedestal and turbo with o-rings out of an o-ring kit i had, is the ones from ford different, mabey thicker? they looked the same. i dont see oil coming out of the rod so i think the only place left is those o-rings? could i dissasemble again and put some grey rtv on the matting surfaces or would that be a no-no?
thanks, rob

Also I don't know about your kit, but the orings from International are yellow. Different oring colors usually mean different materials. Better heat resistance, holds x pressure yada yada yada...If your kit was plain ole nitrile black bet they can't take the heat so to speak.

I had the same problem, replaced the o-rings twice, gutted and plugged the back pressure valve, finally resolved it after replacing the turbo. I've unfortunately been quite busy and haven't had a chance to disassemble and examine it. No visible cracks in the center section either.

a-ha, my o-rings are just the old off the shelf junk, that makes sense. i'll run to ford and get the right ones.
i was also thinking mabey the mating surfacees could have warped? the old owner knocked a connection loose on the turbo and ran it without the turbo for about a mounth untill he brought it to me so i could fix it. could this have warped the surfaces?
thanks, rob
