DIY injectors and chip for 97 f350 7.3

I am looking for a performance chip. I have an upgraded IDM120, open air element, 3-4" down pipe, 5" exhaust, no catylitic converter, shimmed FPR and I am planning on getting stage 1's put in and possibly changing the turbo housing to get a quicker spool. I have an auto tranny. I am looking into getting a kit from diy-injectors to upgrade to a 160psi stage 1. Do I have the single shot or double shot and how can I tell? Has anyone done the diy injectors and how was it? What do you guys reccommend, keeping in mind that I am a college student with a business hauling scrap cars 5x/week (about 7000pounds w/trailer). Thanks much

Most here will say, twildman, dptuner, etc, the custom tuners. Stay away from the off the shelf programmed chips, they won't make as much power, will smoke more, and make more exhaust temps.
With the auto I would recommend some springs and such for the vb with almost any modification, add the injectors and it'll probably smoke the tourqe converter first. Get gauges, don't see em in your sig before the chip. If you are getting injectors keep the stock turbo housing, once you get injectors lag is a non issue unless you add an intercooler, then it isn't that bad. Unless you have a california emmissions model, you have splitshots. If you have a blue sticker on the valve cover and a big saucer looking pulse dampner on the fuel pump you have a cali model, if not you have the 49 state model. If you add the injectors you will definitely want a stock or heavy tow program, if not you will smoke the auto pretty quick towing at all.
For comparison, I tow seldom and usually light at that, and my clutch didn't hold the 1/s long at all.

You are definitely right on the cc NOT psi. Just wasn't thinking. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: DIY injectors and chip for 97 f350 7.3

I bought a shift kit just haven't put it in yet. I also got some inline tranny filters and a larger tranny cooler. I have boost, tranny temp, and egt gauges.
I think I will probably go with the dp tuner. I have seen the ts performance one that is a custom chip too, much cheaper. What do you guys think of that brand? As far as the stage 1's, should I bother. I am not trying to sled pull or race it, just pull a trailer and not get in people's way. With the chip and all the other stuff, I would think that I would be around 350hp. Is that enough for what I do?
Also, I am curious about getting the chip and doing more mods. If I get a custom tuned chip and then get the stage 1's will I have to reprogram?
Thanks for your help guys.

Re: DIY injectors and chip for 97 f350 7.3

Stock injectors are only good for about an additional 75HP, so if you want 350HP then you have to upgrade the sticks.

Yes, you'll have to reprogram for 1's.

The TS chip is what some other vendors use for their own programs. The DP style chip is only available for purchase/reburn from DP.

It is TS performance 6 postion chip. Most people buy it and get it reprogrammed by Wildman, Beans, or BTS.
