Re: diy injectors ordered

Hydrolocking is when you get fluid in the cylinder (water, fuel, oil, etc.) and lock the motor up. The fluid won't compress like the air that is normally in there, and the motor hydraulically locks.

Re: diy injectors ordered

you can get a large syringe and some hose to suck each cylinder out, or do like I do.

First thing is take the two plugs out on the inside of the oil rail to drain it, these are under the valve covers, just below the harness conections. They are allen head, hit them with a hammer and punch before you try, or you will never get them out.
After you get done modding them put your injectors back in and pull all the glow plugs. Turn the engine over by hand atleast two revelutions. set the valve covers back on with a couple bolts and bump the starter a few times, when you think its cleared out, hit the starter and make sure it turns over, if it does, put the glow plugs back in a reassemble.

Do not crank it with the injectors out, as you will be putting oil and fuel right back into the cylinders.

Re: diy injectors ordered

To add what JDB said: I pull those allen head screws in the heads after removing the valve cover gasket and all the wiring. It's just easier with it all out of the way. Let all the oil drain from those plugs. Crack open one of the plugs in the valley, too, to let some air in. Then remove the rear-most injector FIRST. Most of the residual fuel and oil will dump into this one cylinder. Now you have just one cylinder to clean up. Everytime I've done this I never got anything sucked out of the other 6 cylinders with my vac. Then follow above directions for cranking.
Happy wrenching.

This is something you don't want to forget. When you crank the motor with the starter, anything left in the cylinders will come shooting out and go all over, and I do mean all over. I'm not going to admit how I know this!
