diy intake question???

ok finally got a napa 6637 BIG filter. i want to do something to pre-filter only thing that i can think to use is either those foam condems for a shop vac filter or something like panty-hose(kinda sissy-like for a beefy work truck).... any ideas

Why? The filter is fine by itself. Should last a year easy.
