DIY intensifier piston machining

does anyone know what is actually machined on the intensifier piston? is it just shortened? if so how hard is it and what kind of tolerance am i lookning at having to hold?

yea the flat top you mchine. all pistons have to be within i think .0005" so yea they are close. took me bout 3 hours to do setup and machining. they are very hard material.

do they have to be turned or can they be put on the surface grinder and ground down?

I'm pretty sure you could use a grinder if you didn't care how your truck ran after you ground the crap out of them. Take them to a reputable machine shop and have them turned down.
