DIY Tymar = Definitely a must-do

Spent about 4 hours today putting my DIY Tymar together. Yes it took longer than most as I painted the 4" exhaust pipe with a 45 degree bend bright orange, and the stock air box bottom wouldn't pop out of the rubber anchors (ended up busting the one behind the battery). And when everything was cleaned out and roughly made hospitable for such a nice looking filter, I realized that the pipe I had was going to be too long even with the black rubber boot taken out and attaching the pipe to the hard plastic part of the intake.

Luckily, I did the smart thing and did all of this while I was in the local Canadian Tire parking lot. So I just took the pipe to the service center and asked them to chop off 4 inches, which they did for $20, but with a hacksaw, so they did a nice clean job. 20 min later and it was in.

Finally, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I had a couple times lately when the motor would not start, would just chug and chug and chug. I figured it was gasping for air and the 2nd time around I opened the hood to try starting it, no problem. Now, turn key, instantly on! And such a cleaner, crisper sound as well. Sounds like a healthy motor. Also love the scream of the turbo now when accelerating, makes my day. In the end, it cost me about $125 roughly Canadian. So about $120 US. That good but for $120 you could have had the real tymar. But glad you got the intake sounds like you truck needed it in a bad way.

Re: DIY Tymar = Definitely a must-do

Just checked my invoices and the parts total cost me $97.59 CDN. Thats with the 6637 filter, 20 inches of exhaust pipe and a 4" Caterpillar V-Band clamp (which cost $24.46). Probably could have gotten a cheaper clamp, but the V really bites down into that filter and holds it there. So it was almost a $120 with the cutting of the pipe at Canadian Tire.
