Re: Do OBS trucks defuel when you hit 25psi?

The pressure regulator will allow the regulated pressure to rise to the setpoint and stay there until the supply side pressure drops below the regulated pressure setting, then the regulated pressure will drop to the value of the supply pressure "moving" or not. This is why the regulator works when installed in a truck. Adjusting the regulator to a lower setting once it has been pressurized with a higher supply pressure will not drop the output pressure since there is no place for the excess air pressure to go since the regulated side is not vented.

For ease of adjustment, just put a plug into the regulated side of the regulator with a small orifice in it like the smallest drillbit you have. then you can just dial in the pressure without having to vent off the supply side air.

I bought the pressure regulator because I couldn't find a pop-off valve low enough for what I needed in Grainger or McMaster-Carr. Obviously others can read the catalogs better than I! If you can find a pop-off valve that works then it is much easier to just tee in the pop-off valve into the map line.

Re: Do OBS trucks defuel when you hit 25psi?

Thank you to all who helped out on this thread. The info here will more than likely help other people in the future.

I already had this one in my box of air fittings at home. 25psi is the lowest spring. Will probably try it first.

2nd, I'll try this one which looks pretty nice. Could probably calibrate it with a T fitting and a guage on the bench.

Third I could try the pressure limiting ball style valve that I got at home depot...may just keep it for the air tool accessorie box though

PS BLDITRT1, thanks for the link. Looks like that one is setup for immediate bolt in. No running around looking for fittings etc.
