Dynamat?

I recently installed my new 3" downpipe and I think I may have made a couple of the cuts too deep around the firewall weld seam area and now I get an awful lot of engine noise from that area.

Would putting down some Dynamat material or something simaliar in the floorboard firewall weld seam are help to reduce the cab noise, or should I try something else?

Thanks

Yeah,I Don't suggest dynamat unless you got deep pockets.. of course your not going for a full install so it won't be much... I have similar issues but i didnt make enough space for my downpipe, so it rubs, After doing my insolite and raammat from RAAMaudio - Quality and Value in Automotive Sound Deadening
it helped alot, I still have to make more room for the downpipe, but roadnoise, and of course the sound in the truck is alot better aswell.. Closed windows cruising at 70 with 4.10s I can have a conversation with passengers using my "inside" voice haha

goodluck!

If your cuts resulted in even small open holes through the firewall at the seam, some high temperature caulk can help that out as well. Just seal it up, from either outside or inside.

Some have also recommended tar based roof underlayment that has the aluminum surface on one side as a less expensive sound deadener than DynaMat. Does not work as well (or so I hear) but costs a LOT less. Pull up carpet & pad and install on metal floor aluminum side up, reinstall carpet.
