Depends..what are your future plans for HP mods? If you want to play then get a BTS if not and you are able to do the work then rebuild it.

Racer-x builds transmissions in house just the same as BTS. And Racer-x always calls me back.

Your going to get a different answer about every builder. Best fore you to call them and get your own answer. I built my trans in the garage only bought 2 tools special for the job. I spent around 2500$ in parts and that includes shipping. I wont lie it wasn't easy but wasn't hard either. I know in my trans you can't not fit more clutches without machine work. So I am pretty sure when I say it close to if not the same as a bts clutch and hard part wise. In building the trans yourself you also take the responsibility of if you mess it up its your fault. But Racer-x build transmission in house too.

I got all my parts from Racer-x he always took my phone calls . Whether it was a Sunday at 9:30 pm or when he had family over. The customer service was 100% more then I expected. And I got a good friend out of the deal.

I run a BTS, for almost 4 years now. Absolute top quality, probably the best you can buy. BTS builds only 1 trans and everybody gets the same super high quality parts and craftsmanship. Throw anything at it and you're good for a long, long time.

Having said that, now there are options. RacerX builds a great trans, too, that I feel would hold up right next to a BTS. If that's what you need.
He can also build you 'less' of a trans, if that's all you really need. Why pay for a trans that will hold 800 hp if your truck is only going to make 400hp? next trans I get will be from RacerX and taylored to my needs, not just a top of the line unit whether you need it or not.

Call them both and make your own decision.

does richter69 still build trans??? his were built as strong as bts---tony wildman that builds the chips for your truck--has a ricther trans in his truck---and its said he can destroy anything--------------

I don't know if this helps, but my experience with Brian at BTS is beyond perfect...He has spent close to an hour and a half on the phone with me and I haven't bought the first part from him....I hadn't needed to because we found I don't need a trans at this time. The point is he helped regardless of the fact I have yet to buy a part from him let alone a whole trans. For this I will go with him when I do need a transmission, and that's my .02

Racer X
Travis something in Colorado

I will go with a BTS when the time comes. Like mentioned everyone adds their owns touchs and each brand of trans is different.

While I opted to put a BTS in my 97 cause of the bigger turbo ,injecters ,etc.My 96 I just rebuilt with Racers middle of the line parts cause it by no means is a speedracer.I like both trannies and they both do a good job for what they are intended to do.

If you want a DYI then get the parts from whoever you like but if you want a built trans then only 2 people I'd give my $$ to..BTS or John Woods both have years of experence building trans that can handle anything!

Richter69 is still getting tranny parts but right now is is building his race engine. He has had my tranny for awhile that he is building. But your right if it will hold luke cline and tony wildman it will hold me.
