my take on this subject is this. off the shelf programmers are "generic". a custom chip from Tony or Jody takes into consideration you. they (DP or TDP) have to know what kind of truck you have (auto or manny) what supporting mods you have (intake/exhaust/ic/gauges/turbo upgrades/big oil/electric fuel) what injectors you run (stock/stage I,II,III, hybrids) and most importantly what you plan on doing with the truck. if you tow, they can burn you 2 or more tow settings (tow 1, tow 2, etc). i dont think edge asked you any of this, nor did sc. also, if you upgrade your injectors, or have a prob, Tony will reburn the chip..FREE.

no, these chips wont pull codes. if i want codes pulled, or watch my engine, or perform diagnostics, or perform tests, or..you get my point here, i would perfer auto e over a programmer (that can only see codes) anyway.

Off the shelf works for some people! As i stated i am not running of the shelf i have a custom tune on a SCT programer! I still would like to get a wildman chip it's been a few years scince the last time i tried! guys get so defensive on here! I am just relaying facts i have observed!

Ok back to the edge evolution hope I didnt piss anyone off I have had mine about 6 months it seems to work well I run it on race 80 hp. and 140 torque all the time just keep an eye on my egts. Will upgrade to a TW as money permits bought this programmer as recommended when I was new to the diesel wish I would have spent some time on this site before I started buying parts. But live and learn.
