i was checking into getting the edge evolution and was wondering what everybody thought of it for our trucks. i have a bullydog 6 positon chip on there right now which came on it and i dont like it position 3 or 4 doesnt do anything im not looking for a race truck but the bully dog isnt cutting it

I'd stick with a multiposition chip from Tony Wildman or DP Tuner. The Edge will not allow changing of programs on the fly as can be done with the chips. Also note that many times the extra "horsepower" settings on the chips will not do much without modified injectors as the injectors can only flow about 90cc of fuel in stock configuration. Cheers!
I have a evolution on my truck, I bought it for more (safe) power while towing my fifth wheel trailer and to be able to use as a code reader. I've been happy with the extra power in tow mode but still have never used race or exstream setting. I have never really been interested in racing my truck around anyways, parts = lots of money. You might consider having your chip reflashed, Just a thought. It's been installed in my truck now for three years with no problems. Thats my two penny's worth. 96 crew cab 2wd
I bought the edge 4-5 years ago. I also like the "safe powe!r" but it is time consuming changing between settings. I only use the first setting but i have put it on the second and third for a short wile. It works well I would need to upgrade injectors and intercooler if i wanted to do anything above the tow mode... Reading codes is a big plus!!!!

The custom burned chips from someone like Tony Wildman are going to be a much better bang for your buck and just as safe. I run my truck in the tow program all the time. You can also have the chip reburned for free. The chip is burned for YOUR truck and is burned how you want it (what type of programs and what they do).
I have had the edge for a couple years. I always have it in the EXTREME setting except when towing. I would rather have an on-the-fly chip rather than having to stop and do the "key" thing to change programs.
The code reader is good and it gives 0-60 and 1/4 times.

Unless you have guages, there is no tow safe program, itll bite you one day. Youll get more power and custom power with a burned chip from a reputible tuner than you will from any hand held programmer or "off the shelf" chip. I like Tony Wildman myself but theres others.

Ive sold many evo's and have run it in my truck! it's a great tool just to have the scan option! the power is good but i would not say it is as smooth as a superchips programer in early strokes. the evo seems more programed for the superdutys w/7.3 but will still works great inyour truck w/ more power than the superchips just seems a little rough to me! as far as a wildman chip everone says there great but after mounths of trying to make contact with no response i gave up! i am running an SCT programmer right now but its not available to consumers at this time!

The evo was in my truck when I bought it. I leave it on the tow setting regardless of whether or not I'm towing. Somebody, anybody, tell me the advantage of being able to change modes on the fly...unless I'm missing something really obvious I don't see the need.

i called Tony the other day and left a voice mail, that included my call back #. he returned my call within an hour?!?!?!
my take on this subject is this. off the shelf programmers are "generic". a custom chip from Tony or Jody takes into consideration you. they (DP or TDP) have to know what kind of truck you have (auto or manny) what supporting mods you have (intake/exhaust/ic/gauges/turbo upgrades/big oil/electric fuel) what injectors you run (stock/stage I,II,III, hybrids) and most importantly what you plan on doing with the truck. if you tow, they can burn you 2 or more tow settings (tow 1, tow 2, etc). i dont think edge asked you any of this, nor did sc. also, if you upgrade your injectors, or have a prob, Tony will reburn the chip..FREE.
no, these chips wont pull codes. if i want codes pulled, or watch my engine, or perform diagnostics, or perform tests, or..you get my point here, i would perfer auto e over a programmer (that can only see codes) anyway.
