I just bumped my setting on my Evolution from "Tow" to "Race" and now it seems as though the tranny holds in a lower gear before upshifting much longer than before. Has anyone else noticed this? I"m not talking about aggressive driving, just normal around town.

When mine is in race or higher it seems to stay in the lower gears longer before shifting also. But the main differance is that the torque converter doesn't lock up until it gets to overdrive, which makes it feel as though it's in a lot lower gear.
I think maybe it's set that way to keep the extra power from slipping the clutches in the tranny.

Huh! I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I just hope that it doesn't send my mileage into the toilet.

I love the way my truck shifts with the evo and yes in level 2 and 3 it takes longer to shift. I like the black smoke from the tailpipe mixing with the gray smoke from the tires too! My truck power surges when I floor it though does yours do that? I have a post on here about it most of the guys think its the fuel pump but if your both running evos do you have that problem?

I haven't had any problems with surging, but I haven't floored it too much since I did the exhaust and bumped up the Evo. Of course, all but a couple of the days since then have had at least 4" of snow all over. Icy roads and floored accelerators are just not a very good combination!!! I haven't noticed any surge at all. But I don't do much flooring it either. The only time I've really run it hard is when I caught someone taking my toolbox out of the bed of my truck in Charlotte. I chased them through town, parking lots, alleys and soforth at really high rates of speed. Smoking tires and the whole lot. No cop in site! They finally got away. Anyway the truck and tranny did great. Must have been a sight to see a truck that big going through traffic like that, even on the sidewalk at one time to get around traffic.

When I was in Extreme with the old original tranny, I would get weird shifts and a huge slip in OD. With the BTS and using RACE, the thing shifts beatifully with no weird shifting. I'm still experimenting which program I like best with the BTS. I am going to put fuel injectors in (stage 1s) soon, which will change everything.
