Re: ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP PRESSURE

I have got the Billet Intakes on Tom and in the process of trying to run and hook up fuel system. I think i am going to hook up the pressure side with the fittings like Tim did in his pictures with the short fuel tubes that you made for me and use your complete regulated system exactly like you have. Everything underneath is done so hopefully late today or monday. I can crank this up. A very special thanks goes out to Tom for his wonderful pictures and ideas and Help that He has giving me on this project and a big thanks to TimC for his great write up and instuctions for the electric fuel system, I have used several of his ideas. Thanks Guys. I will Post photos when finished

You know I read that too and assumed that was correct. While it probably is correct, I wonder though, if Bean's statement is based on using his full fuel system which runs larger hose and fittings all the way to the heads.

I didn't run large lines to the heads when I installed an electric fuel pump and when I read that several people are running higher fuel pressure (higher than 60 psi) and getting good results, I decided to try. I bumped the presure up to around 65 psi and added the boost reference line to the regulator and there is a very defined improvement in performance!

This all jogged my memory and I think there was some discussion about this a long time ago and one of the comments was that if you have eliminated all restrictions with a custom fuel system, you do not need to run excessive pressure to maintain an adequate fuel supply. So perhaps if you have a less than all-out system, maybe there is still performance to be gained from jacking the fuel pressure up some, even with an electric pump supplying the fuel...

Re: ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP PRESSURE

I was running in the neighborhood of about 40-50 psi and put the truck on the dyno. Bumped the pressure up to about 80 psi and lost about 10 hp. Then dropped it to 70 and was still down on power. Dropped it back to between 50 and 60 and the power came back. Had a pretty nasty rolling idle and dropped the psi down to around 35-40 psi and it idled as smooth as ever and hooked the boost compensating port up to the regulator so it hits about 60-65psi at WOT and the system works great!

Anyone else notice a rolling idle with jacked up fuel pressure?

Re: ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP PRESSURE

I see good performance with 65-70psi on a stock fuel system.
No more than 55-60 with an upgraded system with boost advance. If you have the boost-adjusted regulator, don't forget it's 1:1!

Re: ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP PRESSURE

I think one of the reasons for the 60 psi reccomendations was that the filter housing are rated at 70 psi. I have been running 64 psi for 2 years now. No problems.
