electric fuel pumps

Is there any reason we can not just use a generic electric pump that puts out 60-100 lbs of pressure and put it in front of the selector valve?

Why is there the need to use the really expensive units advertised here?

the units advertised here are tested and proven to work the fuel system can not handle more than 60 psi anyway for base fuel psi . The cpr system from the dieselsite is a great upgrade i cant wait to get mine and install it it was affordable

What are you trying to accomplish? A complete electric fuel system? The generic pumps will work fine but you cant push 60 psi through the stock fuel bowl so you'll also need something for filtration and a pressure regulator.

Call Bob at Dieselsite. You won't be disappointed with the CPR system. It really woke my truck up - best part is the truck doesn't lose fuel pressure between shifts.

I figured that you can put a electric pump in and plumb it into the fuel bowl just like the stock mech pump?

Not trying to do anything today, just thinking out loud.

You cant do it that way Mark. The OEM pump is a two stage pump. 1st stage is a diaphragm pump that draws fuel from the tank and into the fuel canister, from there the fuel goes back to the second stage of the pump where a piston increases the pressure enough to fill the injectors. Our fuel bowls are designed for the low pressure of the 1st stage and wont survive long with 60-65 lbs of pressure in them. SD bowls can handle the pressure and can be substituded for for an OBS bowl, or you could use something like a holley red for a low pressure pump to feed the filter and the use a SD pump after the filter to supply the fuel rails.

Whats so different about the SD fuel bowls? I have seen the fpr removed from an OBS and the hole in the stock fuel bowl plugged. At that point they used an after market pump with an after market fpr on the return line

I talked to the guys at air dog systems u can get the air dog pump with filters, but u have to pump it to the stock mech. pump on inlet of hi pressure side, stock pump then pumps fuel to rails. i did not like that, after questioning him he said to plum a raptor electric pump which boosts press to rails eliminating the stock pump altogether. With the cpr system from deiselsite will this setup eliminate my stock pump, and do u abandon the stock pump in place or make a plate to cover pump hole.

Firman,
The CPR eliminates the pump and comes with a nice plug to match perfectly(some guys use a freeze-out plug). The fuel bowl is removed completely. Its a nice complete set-up. Just need to be careful with the tank selector valve during install.
