My tailpipe is starting to rot at the bend going over the axle. I was thinking about cutting it back routing it out before the rear wheel. Or ending it in front of the rear axle with a turndown.
Need some opinions if there are any drone issues with either terminating place. I kinda like ending in front of the axle but an concerned with smell and drone inside the cab.
For the guys that routed it in front of the rear wheel, do guys put turndowns on the end or let it exit straight out.
See my pictures.. I have the turn down. I also have a drone from about 1900 to around 2100 rpms... I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the placement of the exhaust of if its that its touching somewhere. But I also noticed it seems to differ with the load on the motor. The bigger the load IE. with my 4 horse steel Charmac trailer it seems to be alot quieter. it also seem to lesson with higher water temps...
edit: It does make the wheel dirty and the edge of the rear bumper. as to an increase of smell... not that I can notice, I mean if the wind is blowing toward you your gonna smell it regardless where it is unless you've got stacks that terminate above the cab.

i dont know if drone would be an issue or not but i would get another tailpie or run stacks.
budy of mine had a turn down on his and it just covered everything with soot and made stuff a PITA to work on with soot covering everything. also it looks like a pos when you step in it and black smoke just rolls out everywhere from under it.

SECOND THAT, I have a turndown at the rear, instead of making the 90* bend right before exit from factory, I cut mine off and put a turndown on there. Sounds unbelievably good, not another pstroke around that sounds like mine(that isn't the only reason, but one of em). Downside is like said, with the injectors when I step on it I can fog out the whole road really easy, but it looks bad because it isn't directed at all, just one big storm cloud of soot, in fact it disperses it so well it looks like oil smoke(greyish) in the right conditions, especially at night time in headlights.
