Explain to me why... slight rant

I just put on my new MBRP turbo back kit. So, why did I just buy this extra piece of 4in stainless pipe about 4ft long? Kinda a waste of customers money if you ask me... also I love it how they dont even MENTON in their directions that you have to bend the pinch weld... only reason I knew this was because of this site... I would have rather seen an extra $25 Vclamp (that I had needed anyhow) in the standard cab long bed than the extra cab extension pipe :rant off:

WRKTRK for a licence plate.

Re: Explain to me why... slight rant

Since you have a RC I would imagine the extra piece was for SC and CC setups. It probably cost them less to have one p/n for all three wheelbases' versus one for each wheelbase.

Why an extra clamp? Bend what pinch weld? And where did you purchase it from?

Re: Explain to me why... slight rant

The pinch weld at the firewall must be bent or cut to fit the down pipe. The extra clamp is because the stock one isnt realy re-usable, especialy out here where they rust up and you have to break them to remove them. How would it be cheeper to have one universal kit for the customer if they have to buy extra stainless pipe? I also found that it dosnt matter where you get the kit from, all the distrubutors only offer one kit for these trucks.

Yup, mine from Dale I had the extra length, guess its cheaper to throw a lil' extra pipe in, I am sure that it is factored into the price

I can't believe the cab seam was not mentioned but in certain trucks the engine is forward and cab is rear, no need to mod. It is cheaper for them to warehouse only one p/n. Be glad they make it, I have ran into issues ever since the SD came out. With time it will become worse as to what is available.

Re: Explain to me why... slight rant

Yeah, but all of us Crew Cab guys would be crying when we were all 4 feet short of pipe when they accidentally shipped us the wrong kit. 4' of extra pipe, not that big of deal in my opinion, put it to use somewhere... Maybe a strange birdhouse or something!!

Take care,

TFB

Re: Explain to me why... slight rant

It is much easier and cheaper to stock one kit, rather than several. Just like when you buy the build it together yourself furnature, and there are several directions for different models in the same instruction book. Or just like on your truck, say you don't have an auto tranny for example, the wiring is still there.
