I am looking at doing a DIY elec. fuel system. I have Tim's IC & Elec. fuel pump installation info. What filter set up did you guy's go with. Do you realy need a two filter set up.

I did the entire electric system on my truck. Personally I think you do need a dual filter setup. One filter pre pump with no smaller than 10 micron rating that is a water seperator (water seperators do not work as well on the pressure side) and one post pump filter with a 2 micron rating. The post pump filter will protect the injectors from debris due to a failing fuel pump and provides even better filtration than possible with a pre-pump filter only setup.
I have a Fleetguard FS1001 filter/water seperator pre-pump, a SD fuel pump, then a NAPA 3528 post-pump filter. Both filters screw on to NAPA filter base number 4770 (2 required)
The 3528 filter is the NAPA equivelant to the CAT 2 micron filter that you see used a lot, I just don't have a good place to get CAT filters.
I have pictues of everything but they have a watermark on them that I doubt will be allowable on this forum.

I agree dual filter is best. Too much money in the engine to risk bad filtration... I use a Heated Dahl water/fuel seperator 2 micron prepump, then a NAPA 2 micron spin on post pump. If you go lower than a 10 micron prepump you need to make sure it is designed for high flow rates.

I will be working on my system tonight after work, I believe that I will be installing everything in my tool box if I go with the Dahl 150, if I go with my Racor 500 series then it will go on the frame. Post pump I have a CAT filter housing with a 2 micron filter. I have gathered up a few different filter's, I have two heated Dahl 150's, two Racor non heated 500 series and a Cat filter housing. I'm not sure if I need the Dahl 150, I like that it is heated, but I'm not sure if I need it. The Racor flows 1.05 gpm that 63gph, I would think that should be plenty. What do you guys think? Thanks
Frank
