Filtration Recoomendations

Hello All, I have a question about engine filtration? Who makes the best filters for our beloved PSD's? I run all Motorcraft filters (except the Air Filter- K&N) and my oil filter keeps my oil clean when I do an oil change to it (every 4-5K mi) and fuel filter remains pretty clean at 10K mi. Just curious if OEM is among the most acceptable filters to use. Any help or links would be most appreciated.

Re: Filtration Recoomendations

Motorcraft is a good quality filter. WIX is another. I have also heard good reports regarding AC Delco (don't know if they make one for the PSD however) Stay away from Fram, STP, Pennzoil, Champion. There are some other good ones out there as well as more on the poor quality list if you do some research.

Get rid of that K&N , don't use them on Diesels! Call Dale @Tymar web page and get his air filter kit...your engine will thank you.

Re: Filtration Recoomendations

i like to use fleetguard filters. if you look up some old posts there is a lot of discussion about the different filters fleetguard makes that will fit our trucks. they make an lf 3630 that is designed for our trucks but they also make a larger lf 691 that will fit as well. if you go to www.fleetguard.com and type those filter numbers into the space available under the products heading, i think, it will show upgrades for each of those filters and the advantages of them. i usually use an lf 9691 which is a larger filter and offers more efficient filtration.

Re: Filtration Recoomendations

I'm curious why you say to ditch the K&N? Why is it not good to use on a diesel?

hold the k&n up to sunlight and see how K&N filter's allow dirt
inside of your diesel engine.
you asked who made the best air/oil filter's.
I have learned that Amsoil make's the best filtration product's in the market, oil filters that filter to the tenth of a micron and last
25k between oil changes and filter interval's.

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eao.aspx

https://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eaa.aspx

they have a new line of conical air filter's that replace that dirt injesting k&n filter and it will last 4 year's or 100k between replacement. to add to that it catches way more DUST than any
oil wetted filter could ever catch.

Amsoil has alway's strived to bring the best choice to market
and still offers the best choice in oil to this day.

I have used Amsoil in all my vehicle's for 10 year's
nothing but miles of smiles here from this user
