Ford AIC Install

Allright guys.....finally got my Ford AIC. I printed the manual for it off here. How does this thing mount up? I got no directions, just the brackets and hardware. What does the Super Duty bracket look like...and what does the one for our trucks look like? Also, just where is the harness for it located??????? As always, THANKS!!!!

Re: Ford AIC Install

The cable to connect the AIC has a rectangular plug on the end that connect to the AIC unit, and a round connector that plugs in under the dash. The connector on the truck is up under the dash, pretty much in the center of the truck. To see mine, I had to look up from under the steering wheel, to the right a little.

Re: Ford AIC Install

Not sure how much they will help, but you can see these AIC PICS , then choose the heading "AIC Install Pics", which shows you about where mine is located. My AIC came with the Superduty mount, which we "adjusted" to fit to our early trucks!

If I remember correctly, the wiring harness fits into a plug just to the right of the throttle pedal, fairly low near the bottom of the dash board.

Re: Ford AIC Install

Most of us (including me) got our AIC off of Ebay, as they are much less $$ than from Ford!

Should be able to pick one up from $75. to $250. depending on how bad the seller wants to sell it, or how new/old it might be.
There is an earlier version (without the digital window) as well.
I use the "tach" portion of it more than anything, but the "high idle" is nice to have when you need it as well.

Re: Ford AIC Install

There is a small round female plug under the dash below the ashtray. It's held in place with a plastic clip to the dash frame. Good luck finding a bracket. Mine rides on the floor until I find or make a bracket. If you know a wrecker driver with a 94-97 model tow truck, you might ask if you can use his bracket for a template. An ambulance of the same years would have them as well.
