I'm looking at a Ford AIC part#XC3F-12B639-AA. I want one for the 97 in my sig. I know from talking to the dealership that there are more than a couple of options. I used to work for a towing company and we put them in our trucks and I remember we had to return a couple beacause the were not the correct ones. I have had people say that they all work in all year trucks but, I know from experience that they don't. The dealership wasn't much help. They gave me the deer in the headlights look when I asked for an AIC. Help!
thanks

ProGrade_LLC -- I believe the APCM you are looking at will work. I have a spare APCM I know works in my '96 but I think its part number is XC3F-12B640-AA. It is in the back seat of the truck right now but I will double-check the part number later today.

No, but they are different for a '97-down than for a '99-up. The Ford parts price is higher for a '97-down AIC kit than for a '99-up AIC kit.
Ford part number for a new AIC kit with LCD and PTO button for a '99-up is XC3Z-12B641-AA. I don't know what it might be for a '97-down.

There are two differences between a '97-down and a '99-up.
1. Minimum idle for '97-down is 1,300 rpm; minimum idle for a '99-up is 1,200 rpm.
2. '99-up has a PTO option and larger wiring harness for PTO wires.
The APCMs however, are interchangeable. There are also APCMs available without and LCD display.

Same part number for the APCM. The '95-'97 trucks use a different mounting bracket though. From the Truck Body Builder Advisory 2000 Model Year Ford Truck "What's New" Manual: Can be used on earlier model light trucks back to and including 1995 model year.
ProGrade_LLC -- What does the XC3F-12B639-AA APCM you are considering look like? The XC3F-12B640-AA APCM I have has the LCD, PTO button, and minimum rpm of 1,200.

Have you considered just adding a multi position chip with high idle setting. I would assume they could add multiple high idle settings if needed?? Would save a little dash space that way.

I have a TS 6 position chip, my 2nd setting is the high idle position. I have been very happy with my chip; its literally like having the space shuttles booster rocket under my hood. I think DP-Tuner is the chip everybody is going with these days. Haven't heard a single complaint there, and doubt I will.

Thanks for your help. How do I get ahold of them and how do you switch your settings? Sorry for such a dumb question but, the only thing i have delt with is a SCMT or EDGE Products.

Only dumb question is the question that is never asked.
Let off the fuel pedal; spin the knob to your desired HP setting and GO! LOL its complicated If you are totally new to all of this "I myself" would lurk on this forum for a week or two, call the vendors and educate yourself before spending that much money.
