Got gauges installed today....what are the safe zones for them??

hey everyone,

I had some autometer gauges put on today for boost, tranny temp, and pyrometer. Can you guys tell me what the safe operating temps are for the tranny and the pyro?

Also when driving down the road at say 60mph at a steady speed the boost gauge only shows about 1 lb of boost but when I really get on it I can only get it up to around 6 lbs of boost(without a load on level ground). I was wondering if this is normal? The truck is a 1997 f250 extended cab with a tymar intake and tymar downpipe/exhaust but other than that it is stock.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. thanks.

If your pyro is in the manifold not above 1250* if its in the dp Id say 1000* but Im conservative on egts. On boost I think its 20lbs on tranny Id say 200* or less, your boost at 60mph sounds right, I would think getting into it you should see higher than 6lbs but I didnt have gauges until a chip so I dont know what a stock truck would do on boost.

Re: Got gauges installed today....what are the safe zones for them??

thanks big dan. I'll have to double check where they tied in the pyro. It was around 98 degrees here today and the tranny got up to 180 degrees without a load. Considering the temperatures outside I guess that was ok. Thanks again!

You should probably be seeing in the low teens for your boost pressure on a stock truck.
