A hangar I made for the DP, and then a video

It all started off with fabbing a hangar for the end of the downpipe, as I planned on cutting the pipe just after it so I can clamp in the cat welded to a 4" pipe. Anyway with a couple clamps I had lying around, and an exhaust hangar piece with a rubber section in it, and some cutting/welding I was able to successfully make a hangar for the DP. Here's the pic of the hanger, I cut a 3.5" clamp (left) down to size, welded the hangar part perpindicular to it (middle), then welded a spare 4" clamp/hangar I had upsidedown to that (right), and bolted it to the DP. I just had to drill one hole in the frame here for the bottom bolt, to go in the lower hole that the second part of the clamp goes through.

Then I thought, "Hey I have nothing better to do with my time," and so I put a four inch 90* elbow on the end of the downpipe. Basically it rumbles the whole truck. THEN with my lack of productive things to do with my time I bolted my little digital camera to the frame upsidedown via the bolt hole on the bottom for mounting on a tripod, and recorded this vid. (I used my video software to set the video upsidedown, so it's now right side up) Beware it is 4:40 long, but I cut it down from 7 mins taking out the useless driving, and the smoke grand finale is near the end of the video.

Enjoy.

Re: A hangar I made for the DP, and then a video

Ok RSP I know I know... I cut out the totally even moreso useless driving. After taking about 3 minutes of video out I got tired of it and figured that was enough. Oh it's my camera I can do what I want with it. Mommy about puked when she saw the smoke though LOL.

But yep, gotta love the sound, the turbo is quite frankly obscene.

Many thanks to chainfeed, his original video of the stacks inpired me to do it myself.

Re: A hangar I made for the DP, and then a video

2 things.

1. The vid needs to go in the therapy section.
2. Need a write up on the "frame mount vid cam"

Very well done!!!

Re: A hangar I made for the DP, and then a video

What are you guys talking about, I did stop at every sign! We just call them California stops here. As far as the bike lanes, my theory is "the larger vehicle has the right of way" -- they hear the freight train coming towards them and they will move. Actually no the bike lane was between two lanes, I had to pull through it into the left lane immediately after turning right.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5900, got it almost a year ago but it is a nice little camera, takes pretty good video.

Basically I found a bolt that fits the hole underneath the camera for mounting to a tripod, and bolted it upsidedown on the bottom of the frame. I also just put a little bit of a paper towel folded underneath to keep from scratching the bottom of the camera as I adjusted it too. Then for good measure I took another bolt with a larger washer and secured the wrist strap under the washer with the bolt on anohter hole within reach of the camera, nice and really tight, in case the camera came loose. But it held well as you can see.

I did take a couple pictures of the setup with my cell phone but I won't be able to get them from the phone until work next week, I left all my stuff there.

edit: Okay well I took a picture with my camera of the picture on my cell phone. The quality is nasty but it works. pic1 pic2
