help wont run right

well here is the story, a couple hours ago i went to applebees and on the way the truck was runnin great . well when i left it didnt seem right, on acceleration it vibrated the whole truck. it does this on light or hard accel. also i could not get my egts above 1000 on the extreme setting, i tried on a hill where i usually hit 1000 on normal driving and this was to the floor. got home and started unhooking vc harness connecters(outside of vc) and when one whole side was unhooked it ran the same no matter what side i unhooked. these things can run on 4 cyl, but can they run on 3? thats seems to say they are all firing right . also my fuel filter was dirty but not too horrible, could this be the cause? thanks guys sorry for the long post, but this is my daily driver so all help is greatly needed

Re: help wont run right

Do you know anyone with a scanner or ae software? Did you check to see if the nut was still on your ipr to hold the solenoid on? Open the oil fill cap and smell for burnt wires, sometimes this makes wierd things happen.

Re: help wont run right

check your connectors to your valve cover gaskets. my friends 96 had the same things goin on. the wire was just old and was get hot. check for burn spots look for smoke when its running. i ended up replaceing bith valve gaskets and the eng harness just to be on the safe side. his did the same thing pulled his horses out to the fair grounds just fine and when he went to leave it wouldnt run worth a s*&t.

Re: help wont run right

Replace your fuel filter, check fuel pressure, replace your IPR o-rings and also see if it runs better with the ICP disconnected, if so replace ICP. Do a search on these and you will learn how. If you are certain that it runs the same while disconnecting the different plugs then concentrate on things that control all cylinder and not just one, like all of the things I mentioned above. Good Luck.

In order to really check the valve cover harness, you need to pull off the valve covers and then pop the under valve cover harness off from the valve cover gasket. Mine were all fine on the outside, and at the injectors, but once I cracked them off the vc gasket, the dameage was plainly visible.

pull both VC's off and run the truck, see if all the injetors are shooting out oil or just a few, the ones that are NOT are the problem ones. go from there.

try switch the UVC harness's front to back and see if the problem follows or stay with one injector, if it moves, then its the harness, if it stays with one injector swap solonoids on top and see what happens.

thats the easiest/cheapest way to find injector problems.
