Well I installed the 9007 high/low HID retro kit with 6000K (blueish/white) color bulbs. The co-owner of the company goes to my gym and he gave me a reduced price to try them out on my truck. The name of the company is www.blinglights.com
Got the kit and looked it over. It is well made but comes with no adapter to plug into the stock headlight harness. The reason it comes with no harness is due to some auto manufactureres switch the ground instead of the positive on the headlights. The kit comes with various wire adapters to hook the lights up. The kit's instructions stated to push the bare male spade connectors into the stock harness. I did not like this idea because I thought they could easily fall out. So I ordered an 9007 adapter harness from www.prolightstar.com part # KYO-PNP-WH-9007. I took this harness apart and used the female plug portion. The HID kit's pins were the same size that fit into the stock female headlight connector.
Once I made my harness, the install was pretty easy. I removed the batteries to simplify mounting the ballast and getting to the bulbs. Make sure that you do NOT touch the bulbs. The HID part is 35w (low beam) and the high beam is 50w halogen which gives off a yellow/gold light. Forget about the high beam giving off any useable light. They are there for inspection purpose.
The test and do I like the different light? The color is awesome but the light pattern is still up in the air. I might have to play around with the aim of the housings. I don't have a definite answer. The light is scattered all around. I believe this due to the construction/design of the stock housing. Maybe with the Diamond headlight housing it might give off a different pattern. It might need that metal diffuser in front of the bulb.
Check out my pics and you will see what I'm talking about.
My rating on the HID retro kit:
-Bling factor gets a double thumbs up
-Light spread/useablility get no thumbs ups or thumbs down..its a toss up. It does definetely throw off more light but the light needs to be controlled somehow.
Since I made a plug in harness, I might transfer them to my 2003 Crown Vic LX Sport which has clear headlights with a chrome reflector and the metal piece over the bulb.
But right now, I'm going to run them and try re-aiming my lights. Does that metal rod with hex above the headlight housing adjust the vertical axis of the housing?
it looks like they are definately brighter. and throw out more light thats for sure. i want to get the HID's and after seeing the difference in pattern tehy look awesome. Are those DOT legal?

I'm fairly certain the metal hex-rod moves the light pattern inward and outward vice up or down. There is a screw that is visible behind the headlight trim (inner, upper corner of each headlight) for the up/down adjustment. Cheers!
Yea, but you have to add $100 for the high/low feature.
What makes them DOT approved is the high/low feature. The standard DOT HID bulb is 35w which the kit has. Most kits eliminate the high beam which causes you to loose the DOT approval and wattage. Some guys failed inspection because the high beam does not work.
There is kit now available with a 50w HID bulb which is illegal
I have the 6000K with high/low feature. Sorry, I can't disclose the price at which got them for. He sold them to me a low price as a trial basis. He wants me to try out the 50w HIDs, next.
OHH ok it makes sense now. Well i dont have inspections here in Cali so i dont have to worry about that. I was going to wire in some PIAA's for brights anyways. It makes sense now.
LUCKY!!! lol

WOW! Those things really reach out there and touch somthing! If you get a good set of fog lights might add some light right in front of the rig but man those suckers really beam out there
Gnxtc2, That is a sweet GN, what year is it? When my wife and I went on our honeymoon I saw one for sale in Pigeon Forge Tennesse, naturally I drove to it like a magnet, she balked at the 12000 price tag for a car nearly as old as we are, but I assured her at 20xxx miles it was well worth it, I should've just bought it and asked forgiveness, not permission, we all know forgiveness is easier to come by than permission.. Someone needs to come out with something like that again, unnec. roughness on the six probably, but the cool and rare factors scale right up there.
