Power Strokes 1994-1997 Upgrades and AftermarketUpgrading or adding OEM or aftermarket equipment to your 1994-1997 Ford F-Series with Power Stroke engine.
had blocks on the rear to lift it and then went with lift springs. Now I get a vibration at about 40 MPH and maybe 60 can't remember. Anyway my pinion angle is actually pointing up toward the bed of the truck. I need to know where it needs to be, and the best way to figure out what shims I will need to get. If I am correct the axle needs to be at the same angle as the transfer case? if that is correct, how can I figure it out? And will I be ok loosening the u-bolts and re-using them when I do it?

You are correct that your pinion angle and transfer case output shaft angle should match. It is also common to drop the carrier bearing to stop vibration. On my truck with 4" lift my carrier bearing is dropped about 1 1/4". You can use a angle finder (available at most hardware store, sears etc.) to determine the degree of shim needed. do you have any block left mainly the one used for the bump stop?

Yeah and the springs came with wedges but they are too much wedge I guess. I may try to just remove them and see where it get's me. Carrier bearing= the yoke coming out of the D/S correct?

Carrier bearing is bolted to your under carriage with two bolts in the middle of your two piece driveshaft. I think I would pull the wedges also and compare your tranny yoke and pinion yoke with something like this Craftsman Magnetic Angle Finder - 39830 at Sears.com

Since you don't have a carrier bearing what Icon recommends for SD's are flat blocks...The rear pinion should be the same * as the TC..if the spring pads are stock so using flat blocks should work. I have reused U bolts and never have had a problem that said its recommended to get new.
