How much HP out of 1996 stroker?

What would be a good HP goal to shoot for for my 1996 F-250 powerstroke? I don't want any crazy numbers, just something that I could turn heads with and brag about? Here's another question, how much HP and torque does it have right now(stock)? I was thinking I should be able to get about 400HP, and about 800 ft/lbs or torque when everything is said and done. Are these good numbers or are they crazy? What are all the things I could do to it to get more power? I am kind of new to diesels, so I don't much about them.

I think 1996 was rated by the factory at 215hp. They can make a lot of power. Guys here can explain it, I leave mine alone. I always think of a buddy of mine who couldn't leave his alone, had the big injectors, big exhaust, intercooler, whatever else needed to go fast. I could still beat him in a race believe it or not, the way I did it was drive, where he had to walk because the truck was broken more than it was running. Soon he had a brand new diesel and he said to me "this ones staying stock". One guys opinion, well I guess 2 guys counting me.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend. Right now stock, you are probably around 185 to the rear wheels. If you want 400, you are gonna need at least stage 2 injectors, an upgraded fuel system, turbo, and then your tranny probably won't last too long depending on how you drive it, so you can count on at least upgrading that.........

My truck dyno'd with intake, exhaust, and not much else 144hp at the wheels. Uncorrected.

I have the 96 in my sig.

Injectors and chip 1500
Intake 85
Exhaust 250
Down pipe free after a bunch of screw-ups

I think I dyno'd around 300 hp to the wheels. It goes pretty darn good when I want it to.
