Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

OK so DiProcol is out with it now, COOL! How does the gauge seem to react? Is it hooked up to an extra ICP sensor or to the existing one? How does it react? Smooth tracking?
And MOST IMPORTANT who made the gauge pod?

Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

2L' site isn't up and functioning yet, but you can call Travis Direct at (859) 991-8337 and tell him Michael told you about it

It does just tap into the ICP senor wire, which I don't really like, but did anyway. I may get another sensor and harness for it and get 5v ref and ground on the harness and then make it like it would be factory.

It acts great, smooth movement and seems to not be very 'laggy' at all. It does go up to about 1500psi when I start the truck, which makes me wonder why that is, since it should only take 500psi to start the engine.

It was neat to see what happend when I forgot to turn my fuel pump on after finishing the install. I sat and let it run for a min. like I always do and put it in gear and started to back up, by the time I was outta the driveway it was running kinda rough and lopey. I looked at the gauge and it was up at 1500psi idling and I did a quick through of what was going on, like the gauge was reading wrong or messing with the ICP signal to the computer and it was raising the ICP in turn.

Turns out I turned the fuel pump on and it went back to normal, which I though was neat the PCM was raising ICP to compensate, but was still bad.

The Gauge pod is Autometer from eGauges.com

Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

It'll jump to a higher pressure on start-up till the IPR reacts and starts to work.
Mine usually jumps to 3000psi with twin pumps on a cold start...

Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

Michael,

I went and looked on the e gauges site and they only list a column pod for 97 up F150's and Superduties. Which one did you get?

Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

it is a superduty pod they are the same column cover I believe diselfecer said it required very minor triming around the back of the turn signal to lever to allow it to function properly in high beam mode, but this even has to be done on some superduties

Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

Exactally!! I didn't trim mine very well, but its no big deal to me.

Its kinda cool to look at how the PW and IPR DC act when you have really big injectors and medium oil when you got to WOT and back out of it. The needle does a pendulum between 1700psi and 2200 psi. It looks sweet in the dark too

Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

Do they make the gauge in a white face or just black?

Re: HPOP Gauge in an OBS

Just black face to match the ford dash cluster, thats why I put it on the steering column.

Their white face gauges are made to match the Dodge dash clusters
