hpop removal question

About to remove hpop. How are you guys keeping engine from turning when removing bolt from gear? Are you holding at crank pulley? Also, is there a chance of bolt falling internally once out? Is it necessary to remove resevoir? And finally, book says to torque to 95 ft. lbs., is that correct?
Thanks, Dann
P.S. Will be installing stealth

Re: hpop removal question

yes remove teh top jsut so you can see what your doing, yes 95 ftlbs, hard to do too, get someone to hold the belt for you that jsut does it, as for off hit teh rachet with a hammer. no you can not lose teh bolt but the washer is iffy, put a rag in there, and let eh gear hang it's fine. Remove the fuel canister first too. You need a short 18mm and a short thin 3-4" ext to get teh gear bolt off.

Re: hpop removal question

Ok thanks, was hoping I didn't have to remove the whole resevoir. Don't have canister in valley anymore, went remote fuel pump. Took serpentine belt off, so I guess I can hold back with crank bolt.
Thanks, Dann

Re: hpop removal question

So the reservoir doesn't have to come off? And what's the deal with letting the engine turn, is there something that has to be kept in place that might move doing R&R?

Re: hpop removal question

I would like to see some updated step by step instructions also, I'll be doing a 2001 hpop next week. Hopefully have time to, that is.

Re: hpop removal question

Yes, the engine will turn when you try to remove the hpop gear bolt. Guess I'll have to wait till my buddy gets over here to hold on to the crank bolt unless there is a better way?
