Follow up for the above post, yes the pumps are the same according to several reman suppliers, pretty safe bet they are. I'm going to see if I can find a schematic of the hydraboost, perhaps that will show something solid to go on.

I found this thread here on the later forum, sounds similar to the problem in this thread. Near the end of the thread a post by the fellow with the problem reflects that he checked pump output to lead him to discover the pump housing was cracked where it could leak back in to the resovoir itself thus reducing pressure and volume. If possible I would suggest checking the pressure coming from the pump, without the hydra boost it may not have been enough to notice.

that tech is fos--if you nearly blocked of the pressure outlet--and had a gauge on it, it should put out a max of around 1050 psi---the steering gear just produces resistance when you turn-----if you turn the steering wheel to full lock---hear the squeal????? thats the pressure valve bleeding off---if you dont hear it--the pump is wearing out--or already has---and if thats the case--no wonder no brakes---i/e no pressure in the reservoir on the brake assm---

Thanks for the info guys, I did put a reman pump and steering box in a year or so ago, just because I messed with the screw on top of the box only to find out it was my u-joints in my axle so I guess it was more like two years ago when I replaced the box and pump. Now that I think about it, the 97 250 at work turns alot easier then my truck does, even before the 35's. Thanks for the idea's.
