i-beam pivot bushings - Diesel Forum

ok i have decided to replace the i-beam pivot bushings and the radius arm bushings as the front is pretty loose and has terrible wobble goin down the street. the radius arm bushings are pretty straight forward. my question is how difficult is it remove and install the pivot bushings? i have read about a metal shell i need to keep and reuse. are there any tricks or special tools i should know about before taking everything apart? thanks guys

I used an air hammer to drive em out, a long bolt, heavy washers, a nut, and an impact to drive em in.

By far the worst part is trying to line em back up to put the bolts in. You'll need a couple floor jacks and an assortment of pry bars to get em lined up. I even had to drop the leaf spring on one side....

While you have access make sure the bolts are tight on the pivot brackets, mine were a little loose, Ford even had a tsb about em loosening up..
