I dynoed today

There was a dyno diesel hangout deal in the area I lived in today and I jumped on since the stage 1s are in the mail to get a baseline on the truck, basically my high numbers were 221 hp and 415 ft/lb. I was expecting to be a little higher but it was my first time on a dyno so I think I was backing off to soon but it was fun and a good learning experience and I got to hang with a fellow member, I think we were the only two fords, but I got there kind of late. So with stock injectors do the numbers make sense? Or was I backing out to soon?

Re: I dynoed today

Totally stock is usually around 165ish. So for just a chip, intake, and exhaust I think you're doing pretty good.

Re: I dynoed today

Jeez, those numbers sound a little low.

Just messing with you Dan, glad you made it out today. Like you said it gives you a baseline to compare to later and it's a good time. You missed the other two Fords that ran, the one right before me did 337 I think and the guy with $7000 worth of Bank's equipment that did 286.

Re: I dynoed today

The event we had here today was $50(was supposed to be $45 but the new owner changed it). That was supposed to be for 3 runs, but they weren't strict about that. The other local shop I know that has a dyno charges $100 an hour for dyno time. It's going to vary depending on the shop and what they have going on I'm sure.

Re: I dynoed today

We had one a few years ago in Anc. Nobody was very happy with the results. I had a modded IDM and a several different chips back then. No injectors. TYMAR and straight exhaust. I could only get about 175hp. Jim only was around 240. Should have been at least 350. Turned out the dyno had real light rollers for ricers and we couldnt get the boost to build before we ran out of rpm's. Jim needs to get a good Dyno up here for us Northern Boys to run on. Re: I dynoed today

Stock OBS trucks usually are around 175 hp and SDs about 225 hp. The weight of the rollers make a big difference on a DynoJet. Dyno'ed the truck on a 3000# roller dynojet and barely made 330 hp in direct and much less in OD (282 hp). Running 120mph on a dyno is a little strange. A 5000# roller Dynojet gave me 399.8 hp readings. Mustang dyno readings have been from 342 to 365 hp. These are corrected numbers with a CFs of 0.92-0.96. Out here the numbers shrink when corrected. These are from 4 Mustangs and 2 Dynojets. As a comparision, the truck did 14.5 1/4s@7500# with the same powertrain setup. This was with a stock muffler and stock turbo (1.0 housing) and an old 2003 dieselpower chip. The addition of Bean's single SD fuel system increased the horsepower to 408 with a broader torque curve. Current setup is a little different but have not had an opportunity to dyno or race the truck.

Re: I dynoed today

As Im typing this 10/13 photos are uploaded on webshots under album dyno. I have to go to a friends to scan the dyno sheet. My scanner and I arent getting along (computers ). Like KRP said it was $50 and I did like 8 runs since it was my first time they worked with me to get some good numbers. Before I start getting a bunch of crap about stickers let me say this, the banks one is from the original owner who had a banks dp I sold it and the module for almost half of what my exhaust cost that I bought, but I keep it on cause it makes me look like I have lots of money . The bullydog ones are cause I bought my gauges from em.
Now we need a drag strip here so I can blow black smoke all over superdutys with my stage 1s, maybe even KRPs superduty !
It was fun, and my 4yo daughter loved it, I thought shed get scared cause your going real fast in front of a brick wall but she loves blowing smoke too! cant wait to do it again after the stage ones.
KRP good seein ya again.
