IDM mod important question????

Well I'm ready to solder the new resistor, but i want to make sure. 1995 F-350 auto 4x4, now no question on application, ohh wait its a crewcab. No just kiddin, seriously, where the harness plugs into the IDM box, there is a sticker that says 100A is that the 75.0 k ohm resistor, also I know the picture of the IDM on the forgotten is a 99 SD but is there only 1 resistor in this box or more. Also, does the resistor (stock) read 4.7 or sumthin or other. I got a real expensive resistor, it was 65 cents, thats the proper one right, right. Im ready with my buddy that builds and services ATMs, he is the one with steady hands. He
even has a solder sucker, so hes no rookie.

Thanks in advance, Brandon

P.S. JOAT if you have some good info id love to hear, ohh by the way my flexplate issue was a warped tranny case. Dang after 4 TC, a new pump (steel), 8 yes i said 8 warrantied flexplates it was the DANG warped tranny case.

Re: IDM mod important question????

Hey Brandon, glad to hear you got that tranny taken care of. Probably the PO warped the case installing it wrong. Some people try to pull everything together by tightening the bolts while the converter isn't in the pump all the way.

I havent tried the IDM mod myself so I'm not going to try giving you flawed advice. Maybe someone could post a pic showing the proper resistor on our year trucks.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out

Re: IDM mod important question????

here is a picture of what the one you take off should look like
unless you have the model with the 1 WATT resistor... this is the 1/4 watt version

The one you remove should look like this

Not sure what type of resistor you purchased to put back in, I used a metal film 1/4 watt, 1% tolerance 75K ohm, axial lead resistor, here are pics of the install on it...

IDM MOD 1

IDM MOD 2

its also advisable if you use the axial lead resistor to rtv or epoxy it to the adjacent capacitor to decrease the chance of solder fracture due to vibration

you should refer to the other thread about the differences we noticed on the different IDM's apparently there are at least 2 different versions...
