IH 17* HPOP part number??

Well first of all does IH use a 17* pump in any apps? next question is does anybody know what the part number is. Somebody I talked to on another board said the Ford 17* part number crossed to this IH #2589446c91. I am just wondering if anybody knows for sure if this is a 15 or 17* pump.
Thanks
Tim

Re: IH 17* HPOP part number??

I just spoke with IH and they told me the difference is 183149c91 is the old p/n and 2589446c91 is the one that replaced it. They are the same part. Thanx for the link fishman. Great site with good prices.

Re: IH 17* HPOP part number??

unless things have changed since I bought mine, a part number is not a guarantee of a 17* pump. be sure and pull the back cover to check.

Re: IH 17* HPOP part number??

Thanx tj. It made me think so I had to call to determine.
I have heard that the rear cover can be hard to remove. Any suggestions? Can it be done while on the vehicle.

Re: IH 17* HPOP part number??

It could be done on vehicle but not easily. I have used three methods. one clean the cover and use duct tape wrapped around my hand sticky out and use the sticky to pull the cover, air pressure in one of the ports or pop it off. and one that was really hard stuck from sitting in the rain outside (junker i got to tear apart for a bit of planning for DIY big oil) that one I need to weld a bolt on the cover to give me something the get a hold of and hammer on to peel it loose.

Re: IH 17* HPOP part number??

I just bought one today, $350.00 no core. That way I can keep mine for a spare or sell it and come out cheaper. I wanted to check mine to be sure the dealer hasn't done something funny. If I can't get the cover off I will simply swap and open it when it comes off the truck. Thanx Tim

Yup keep me posted. If nothing else I can do the DIY stealth if the 17* is not enough. Still waitin' on the cash for II's though so no big hurry.
