I got a set of bull rings for christmas (hold down for the bed) and I cant get the front ones in. The rear stake pockets went just fine, but the front are a little different. If you looking down into the hold there is a "wall" on either side making it impossible to get the hold down into the hole...I know someone posted about this before and I just cant find it. Anyone remember what was done to remedy this problem?
Re: installing "bull ring" in front stake pockets?
I just installed 6 of them last week. The rear ones go in no problem but the others......PITA. You going to have cut that wall inside the stake pocket. I used an air hammer with a chisel attachment. It cuts it like butter. After you cut the wall, make sure you coated the bare metal with paint. But they look good.
Re: installing "bull ring" in front stake pockets?
well i got em in...sawzall, hammer, chisel (sharp), leatherman, and extra flat head screwdriver!
Wasn't the most fun, but came out perfect, cant even tell there was so much involved in the install. Thanks for the reminder to touch up with paint in there...would have forgot.
Re: installing "bull ring" in front stake pockets?
I used a large punch to move that inner wall out of the way enough to install them. I am not sure if I am going to like them with the diamond plate bed caps though. Anyone find anything that works really good with those and still will go flush.

Sorry, they aren't too great. I am VERY happy with how they turned out on top of the Diamplate Rail caps...I was a little worried at first but they are very low profile (the bull rings) so they really dont stick up at all.
Re: installing "bull ring" in front stake pockets?
well i have pulled on em as hard as I can and they dont budge. I gave them there real first test yesterday. Drove up to Lake Tahoe with a bunch of stuff in the bed. I held it all against the cab with a tie down (ratchet type). I ratcheted the HECK out of it to make it real tight with no problems. I am very happy with how they did. I would buy them again.
