Intecooler Y-Pipe

I am so excited, I went to a big truck junkyard today and came out a happy person. I went there to look for rims for my truck and ended up coming out with an intercooler spyder to fit my truck for the intercooler that I have. I found it off an older school bus. Its not a one piece y-pipe its a two piece, looks kinda weird but works!! I'll have to take some pics of what it looks like!!!

I know you guys are gonna be mad at me but they only charged $40!! If anybody wants one I might see if they have anymore in the junkyard.

Re: Intecooler Y-Pipe

Ya I'm just happy that I found one cheap so i can complete my intercooler installation. It isn't one of the best looking y-pipes, but it will work just fine!!

Re: Intecooler Y-Pipe

Allright i defiantly will, b/c i will be installing it here hopfully in the next week or so. The only problem I can maybe see right now is that the y-pipe is pretty tall, so I don't know if I will have a clearance issue with the hood. But from the looks of it right now, I don't think it should. But if it is, it should be hard to fix anyways. I got the y-pipe and all of the intercooler pipes and rubber hoses for $40. So all in all i have less than $200 in the intercooler and everything that is needed. The only other problem is the intercooler piping. I will need to fab some little pieces together, but it won't be bad. Afther I get all of this done I plan on getting it powdercoated to make it look better and look cleaner. I'll keep you guys posted!

Re: Intecooler Y-Pipe

I just finished installing an 6.0 intercooler in my truck. I couldnt find any Y pipes that were cheap so I ended up just building my own from scratch it really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, and i just bought some mandrel bent 3" pipe and fabed my pipes as well it all worked out really nice and was cheap to do, I have one pic of it in my web shots.

Re: Intecooler Y-Pipe

FordPowerstroke73,

Good find, don't forget to post some pics when you are done!

Robs96,
Nice clean installation. Would you consider adding some close up shots of that Y-pipe you made? I think that will be helpful to a lot of people since it is unknown if Ford will ever make the Early 99 Y-pipe available again!

God Bless,

TC

Not trying to put your Y pipe down but you neck it way down before the Y. That's KILLING your flow!

Re: Intecooler Y-Pipe

I know that the kneck from 3" to 2" really sucks im working on going 3" all the way to the y and going 3" from the turbo out. I built it that way just to get me going with the intercooler, and ill have some more pics of the intercooler parts soon.
