intercooler or water injection

Just wandering if water injection is just as good as an intercooler and what the pros and cons are of the two.

Re: intercooler or water injection

I've been pondering H2O for a while. Snag I see is my EGT's get out of control at lower, lugging, RPM where a 'cooler would work well. H2O comes on when you're building boost, like 10 psi or more. My truck rarely ever sees boost unless I'm on it hard and by then the EGT's are in the 1200+ and climbing range where a 'cooler won't help much by then.
I cruise at about 1000*, so a 'cooler would drop that to a comfy 800*(?) or so.

So my solution would be to do both.

Re: intercooler or water injection

H20 injection + 10 psi boost = hole in block! (<- experience speaking!)
Do the intercooler!
H20 injection needs 18 psi up to be safe and 2 staged at that.
You would be for ever filling the water container.

Re: intercooler or water injection

Your best bang for the buck is to retro fit a superduty (7.3 or 6.0) and modify 7.3 supderduty tubes. Tubing kits are also availible seperately from banks and GTS. A complete IC kit will run you $1500 or so, Tubing kit plug Either IC about $7-800, and a complete DIY retro between $200-$400 depending on your parts hunting skills.

For complete DIY write-up you can check out this link
http://members.localnet.com/~boys3/

I based my install on that write up with a few small differences
I have pics and description in my "truck PIcs" link in my sig in the IC album
