I just got a 6.0 intercooler to put in my 97. Is it really necessary to use the gts y pipe due to the boots stepping up from 2" to 2 3/8" as it says on their site? Or can i get away with using one from a super duty?? Thanks.

If you use GTS' Y-pipe, you do not need to change the small orange boots that you currently have. You also do not need the wider y-pipe to turbo clamp. If you choose to use the early 99 Superduty y-pipe, you will need the reducer boots, clamps and wider turbo clamp. That's no problem if you can find a good deal on a take-off setup from the early 99 truck, but buying the parts new is pretty cost prohibitive. The GTS y-pipe also gives a bit more clearance around the fuel bowl. Cheers!
You can use an early '99 Y pipe as well. It has to be an EARLY '99 though. No others will work. As stated above you will need to get reducer couplers and a wider V band clamp for the early '99 Y pipe as well as you will have to plug some holes in it.
