kingpin d60, whats involved in the swap?

I have a 250 (96) and want a D60, I found one out of an 89 350 (kingpin) for a decent price in my area and want to know how much I would have to do on my truck. already has my gear ratio.

Re: kingpin d60, whats involved in the swap?

There are tons of posts on this. The D60 is pretty much a bolt on
swap. If your truck is lifted, most will recommend you swap out the
front driveshaft to the F350 double carden style.
Try to get the tie rod, track bar, sway bar, etc. as not much of the D50 stuff will work with the D60.
Quite a few guys on here recommend that you do the RSK and add SD
springs at the same time to improve the ride.

Re: kingpin d60, whats involved in the swap?

I am planning on doing the RSK and SD springs. How much money am I looking at as far as the double cardon driveshaft? Just don't want any surprises. And if I can't get the other stuff (tie rod, track bar, sway bar) those things should be redily available at a salvage yard I would think.

You can probably get a used one for $100 or so that would need new joints.

Your brakes will change. 95-97 are a newer design. That means you need to buy calipers (unless the D60 comes with good ones.)

ok, So is 900$ a decent price for the axle, if it does not come with any of that stuff?
