Just rebuilt all eight injectors. Had one broken plunger spring. Restarted the truck but not driven yet. I now have a couple of other issues. 1) A knock that comes and goes, getting progressively louder it will knock 25 or 30 times then fades away. 2) Oil in the fuel bowl. Usual smoke and rough idle after injector R&R.
I vacuumed all the cylinders out several times. Filled the oil pump reservoir up several times. Bumped the starter a lot before ever spinning the motor over.
Buzz test is good. Contri test is all over the place because it is stilling idleing ruff.
Sounds like it is on drivers side but not sure.
Pulled drivers side valve cover 2 is oiling real good 4,6,8 ok.
the knock could possibly be air in the system try driving it 25 miles and see if starts tog et worse or better
but first
oil in the fuel bowl is usually sighns of bad o'rings, oil pressure is higher then fuel so it will actually pump oil back into your fuel rails and into your fuel tank!

Man you need to go drive it and get the air out of the system I usually drivem at least 15 miles.

I hate Dodges, straight piped common rail cummings sound like crap!
Went and drove it some. Put about 35 miles on it. Knock is a lot less often and a lot quieter now. Still has the usual miss and smoke after injector work but getting better. I will check the oil in fuel issue in the morning. I have not had the knock like this before.
With the HX hose depending on how its mounted it can entrap air.(loops above or below).
Air tends to build under the ICP. You could remove the IDM relay and bump the motor with the sensor removed. Also be shure that your FPR screen is clean so the air will purge out of the fuel.
Here is my trick guy's for bleeding oil system.
I made a oil line that installs in the ICP location. The other end of line goes to the oil fill of motor. It has a cap on it with a .005 hole in it. First purge is with plug off cranking. Then plug on motor running. ENJOY works great on motors with HX mod.
Knock is all but gone. Smoking faily bad. Whiteish gray with the smell of oil. Smokes from idle to cruising. Fuel in bowl is grey. Missing also consistantly. Have AE scanner software. What should I be looking for besides a bad o-ring on the Injector. Which ring would it be on the injector?

COOL! Saves having to disturb the little plugs under the valve cover. I don't know if you saw my posts on it lately but I R&R injectors with out any of the hard start, smoking, 25 miles of rough running etc. Just not worth it to abuse my engine that way. Prolly takes me an extra hour but starts right up and runs like nothing happened.

That why i made the hose up.
Eliminates all the Bull Chit.
are you sure all the washers came out of injector hole when you pulled them. If there is 2 washers in one hole that could do it. Also you may have not seated one injector good and that could do it.

I am sure I got all the old washers out. Bagged and tagged all the old parts per injector. Have checked one bank for seating issue. All ok. Will be pulling both valve covers tonight to check seats on all eight. As of this afternoon still smokeing and missing. Sure not looking forward to pulling all of them out if it is not a seat issue.
