Well, as an early birthday gift I recieved a real nice Dell laptop computer from the lovely wife. As a matter of fact I'm posting from it right now, enjoying its versatility and portability. I can only imagine its uses and will never use it to its full potential, however, one application I can think of and at the same time take advantage of its portability is troubleshooting a PS engine and monitoring functions. I promise there is a question here! What software out there is available for that purpose? What kind of supporting equipment would be necessary? I know absolutely nothing about this sort of thing and dont even know where to begin. Thanks.

Unless I'm missing something, that link only offers products for OBD 2 equipped vehicles, beginning with 1996. My truck is 1994. Does that mean I am OBD 1?

Have the stock PCM flashed to a newer code, 97 or later. That will awaken the OBDII port & kill the OBDI. That is what I did to mine. A chip or tuner would not work on my truck until I had this done. Cost me about $40. at Ford dealer where I knew the shop manager. I even told them which code I wanted (don't remember it now). They downloaded it from Ford and fixed me up. Took a couple hours while I waited.
I see. FWIW, I e-mailed Autoenginuity asking them about an OBDI product. They replied indicating it's coming soon. I'll look into the reflash thing, do I need to supply a specific code or does it matter as long as I'm over 1996?

Thanks Venge and js2941. To be honest, I'd be surprised if my stealership will even know how to reflash, I'd probably get the deer in the headlights look.

They know how to reflash if they have ever sold a 6.0 off their lot!

I'm not sure if they know what a 6.oh no is. It made front page news down here when they hired a diesel tech a couple of months ago. I dont know his/her experience or background, but this is why I like to do my own work.

Contact DP-tuner. Jody can reflash your PCM. A Chip will override the pcm. They sometimes do weird things with the 94 PCM's, but jody can help you out.
