Lift kit

I have a 97 psd with the I-beam front axle. I want to fit LT 315'S and I was told that lifting a 97 psd with the I-beam is crazy and I will have many problems. What about a swap to a dana 60 front axle. Thanks

There's nothing wrong with lifting the I beam. Just a little more of a hassle [alignment] than a solid axle. If you can do it the d-60 swap is the best way for sure.

an F350 wont lift a F250 as much, i.e. most people that ive heard do a D60 swap get a little lift out of it (all that Im not 100% sure of, i havent done a D60 conv)

If youre wanting to clear 33s on an F250 Id recommend an add-a-leaf.

I have a 97 F250 and it has a 4 inch lift with the I beam I bought it with the lift already installed but no problems so far. I dont think it handles very well but its not a car feels ok till about 85 to 90 but thats fast enough for me in a truck.

I have the 4" lift on mine and am very happy with it. The truck rides better than stock and my treadwear is very even. My tires are even straight when backing up. You need to have someone align it who know what they are doing and you may need bushings for camber.

If you can afford a D60 then do it but you will probably be looking at 1500 2000 bones. As far as lifting a twin I beam, no problem just be sure that you have a buddy that can do alignments real good. My Bronco has the TTB and a 6 inch lift, rides nicer than a solid axle but I have to align her about every 6 months.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Its hard to find a D-60 in the Reno- Sacramento area. I only have 100,000 miles on the 97 and I want to keep it for awhile, so I will keep trying to find one.

I forgot to ask, do you guys think the Lt 305's or 315's would be a better choice. I hunt a lot and toy a bunch of toys. My gears are 373's and I have only a few upgrades.

The 4" lift was a PITA. It took me altogether about 20hrs to put mine in. The TTB was the hardest part, If you have fat hands you might want to find someone whos are smaller to get to the bolts. Replace every bolt and every bushing. I made the mistake of leaving the old axle pivot bushings in and now my tires are leaning bad. Also most alingment shops will either not Touch your truck cause its lifted or say there will be no warranty at all.
