Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

Your not going to believe this but my buddy came by last night and dropped off an intercooler from a 6.0. No charge.

DAAANG!!

All I can find available are pipes for the 7.3 cooler. Will the 6.0 one fit OK? This isn't something I've researched much.

What are the best pipes for the money? I'm not so fired up on the GTS system.

Re: Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

the best pipe for the money are build your own out of of some 3" mandrel bent pipes. You can get it done for 100$ in bends alone.

Re: Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

If you can get a set of 7.3 SuperDuty pipes you have all the pipe and bends you need, just cut them up and reconfigure as needed. That's what I did.

Re: Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

I got the 6.0 pipes with my 6.0 intercooler, I tried them everywhich way to Sunday and they were not a direct fit for me. I purchased a set of 99 PSD pipes from Powerstroke shop, they just happened to be changing part numbers and were 50% off. They too were not a direct fit for me, but between both sets of pipes and extending the 99 pipes a few inches on both sides they worked out nicely. Granted I have a MIG welder and chop saw, so I did not have to pay anyone, however, if you do have your pipes extended and they are not TIG welded, you must absolutely insure that your inside welds do not have any debris that will lunch your turbo by sucking in TIG wire or other weld remnants.
Good luck

Re: Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

Hmmm Sounds like that would take more time than I have available.

I take it there are no prebent pipes to fit a 6.0 cooler?

Re: Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

My understanding is the 7.3 and 6.0 coolers use the same plumbing except for one boot. On the pipes, I plan to run Banks, at around $500 not cheap but sometimes my time is needed elswhere.

I used a GTS kit that was designed for a 7.3 cooler. I had to shorten the cold side pipe to the "Y" and add a bend to make it line up with the turbo, but that's only because I've got a H2E and not the stocker. Geoff told me the kit will work with either the 7.3 or 6.0

Re: Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

I have the 6.0 pipes that Banks sent along with the 6.0 intercooler I bought from them off *bay.

Your welcome to them for the price of shipping from Lincon, CA if you decide to fab your own.

Re: Looking for plumbing for 6.0 Intercooler

I just finsihed the install of a 6.0 on my 95, The guy I bought it from gave me extra pipes and rubber couplings. I was able to use the cool side by cutting the pipe and adding a piece of hose. On the hot side I had two pipes exactly the same and used both to make one good one. I also had to add a hose to make up the difference in length, but it made installing them easier. I also had to reroute the power steering cooler hose and move a few other lines to clear the piping. The hot side foil was removed and it reveiled a dimple in the pipe. When I cut it I was able to remove the dimple with a little persuasion. I powder coated them (At home of course) with "chrome" and they look like the were jet coated. All in all it came out really good. Can't wait to install my John Wood trans and test drive.
