Maybe I'm missing something - I don't see elec fuel dilivery for 1997 PSD

I've been looking but so far have not found elec fuel dilevery for 1997 PSD. FASS is for 1999+. What are you guys using?

There is no electric fuel delivery on a 97. There is only a manually driven lift pump in the engine valley, between the fuel bowl and turbo basically.

There is an extra lobe on the camshaft that runs the fuel pump.

99+ trucks with electric fuel pumps dont have the extra lobe, and the hole is plugged with a freeze plug.

Hmmmm. I know about the stock pump. Was considering adding Stage-2 injectors & thought I might need new HPOP & elec fuel dilivery to keep up (based on posts here). I'm just not finding anything on fuel dilivery; all kinds of stuff on HPOP. Can stock fuel pump keep up with Stage-2+ injectors?

Re: Maybe I'm missing something - I don't see elec fuel dilevery for 1997 PSD

you can just plug the hole and use any of the stuff for the 99+ trucks. just have to modify it to fit like you need. it. you can put a fass and regulated return and get rid of the fuel bowl and all and use the filters from the fass. i just changed a 97 over. if you want you can use the newer bowl too. the hpop's are the same too. you can upgrade to one from the newer trucks. just bolt it in and go. and the dual pumps too. i changed a couple over to stock fuel systems from newer trucks by going to a junkyard and getting lines and pump and bowl and putting them in. not that hard just have to be a little creative and make some lines to connect everything.

Re: Maybe I'm missing something - I don't see elec fuel dilevery for 1997 PSD

From what I've read, I need to replace fuel bowl & possibly move or remove fuel pump to add Stealth HPOP. That's what got me thinking of elec fuel dilivery. I haven't decided on HPOP, if stock 17* fits in factory location, maybe that's the best bet. Does '97 factory fuel pump keep up with Stage-2s? Not sure if I need to replace HPOP & fuel pump or just HPOP? Thx

I think BDP has a fuel pump kit that uses two SD pumps.

Jim (threestar)is running 2's with stock fuel, and thinks he's running out at WOT. When I went to stage 2's, I installed Beans fuel system, and couldn't be happier with the set-up.

Re: Maybe I'm missing something - I don't see elec fuel dilivery for 1997 PSD

You can run the dual HPOP setups by using the SD fuel cannister. It mounts off center so it does not interfere with the dual pumps.

The electric fuel pump conversions with stage II injectors result in a smoother idle, about a 8-10 hp increase (in my Calif truck) and a much broader torque curve. The horsepower curve is fatter (less peaky). I used Bean's single SD pump based system. Bean uses very pricey Stanadyne filter setups in his fuel system so its easy to economize by using considerably less expensive filter setups. Check postings by TomS and TimC63 for filters and filter heads. It is easy to convert to dual pumps if you wish. Postings this week in the SD 7.3 forum indicate that the Bosch 044 electric pump have considerably more flow capability than the SD electric pump. There is a reference to a chart that compares the different Bosch pumps (SD style) flow ratings.

The SD pump setups are well worth the expense and effort especially if you are running bigger injectors. If you do one of the DIY setups its a vcry cost effective modification.
