Re: Mirrors for towing?

I put a pair of CPC mirrors on, they just slide on when you need them and off when you don't. I pull a 40' 5th wheel cheep and they work good for me. Plus you get them adjusted and when you put them back on your ready to go again don't have to readjust them all the time.

Re: Mirrors for towing?

I just cut the wienie little factory ones off with a grinder and used the original holes to mount a set I bought at the local auto parts store for about 15 bucks. Nothing fancy but they've done just fine for many hundreds on thousands of miles pulling an 8.5 foot wide trailer... You can see them in my pics. They work and they're cheap....

Re: Mirrors for towing?

I have what is called (i BELIEVE) the west coast mirrors. They are big and don't look the best....but they don't vibrate, they are easy to see out of. If I could figure out how to get pictures on here I would show you...

They are called CIPA mirrors - and you can find them most anywhere. Lot of travel trailer parts places have them, along with AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc.

Re: Mirrors for towing?

I use the CIPAs on my 97 w electric mirrors. My wife drives the CC most of the time and really likes elec because she can aim them at the rear wheels to back up. The CIPAs don't look bad and don't vibrate (much). Check Cabelas for price - I got them from there, but I might have had a gift certificate. Here's a picture of the CIPAs on my truck CIPA mirrors

Re: Mirrors for towing?

When I bought my truck, it had the factory towing mirrors. The guy that had it before me had installed some adapters that mounted on the factory "bars" and then you screwed the factory mirror on the adapter. This allowed the factory mirror to slide in and out as needed. Looked like it worked well for towing. I dont't tow anything big, so I took them off.

Re: Mirrors for towing?

Thats what I have. I cant remember where I got them from, but for some reason I want to say Cabelas or Bass Pro. I have never been fond of the huge "Grand Pa " mirrors. I wanted to use the stock mirrors if I could. The Slide out type works great for me.

Re: Mirrors for towing?

Make sure you get the ones that slide over your factory mirrors, I love them when you are done take them off, when you put them back on they are already adjusted. The ones that clamp on with staps suck. Try campingworld.com

That's too funny. But at least it's appropiate, that's what I am. I used to have them little electric "sports car mirrors" and hated them. The Granpa's have been on for a few years now and if I could find a set cheap I'd replace them with a set of west coast mirrors.
